Freelancers do not work for anyone, they are their own company/boss, magazines would ask them for photos they may need to use in their magazines. One picture agency that is very private is Corbis, they have a lot of photos saved but to get them you would need to buy from them.The company's collection includes contemporary creative, editorial, entertainment, and historical photography as well as art and illustrations. It is said that Corbis 'has a collection of more than 100 million images and 800,000 video clips'.
