What type of risks may there be in a photo-shoot?

  • Some people may have light sensitivity.
  • Falling of an object- for example if you were standing on a ladder and it breaks.
  • The model may have sensitive skin, e.g. if they are not used to staying in the cold for too long they get a lot of rush.

  • Risk of fire- if a light falls.
  • Dropping equipment on a part of body

Key Terms

Hazard is anything that can cause harm e.g. a chemical, electricity and ladders.

Risk is how great the chance that someone will be harmed by the hazard.

Using these words in the assessment.
  • Major- Death or major injury or illness causing long term disability.
  • Serious- Injuries or illness causing short-long term
  • Slightly - all other injuries or illness.
The Likelihood of harm may be rated.
  • High- where it is certain that harm will occur
  • Medium- where harm will often occur.
  • Low- where harm will occur.
Risk=Severity of harm x Likelihood of occurrence
This sum gives a risk value of 1>9 allowing a comparison of risks.
1=High Risk and 9=Low Risk
